These thermocouples are used in industrial vacuum furnaces up to at least 5 x 10-6 torr (6.67 x 10-6 mbar) where temperature up to 1600°C are experienced with a typical leak rate for better than or equal to 1 x 10-6 scc/sec. under 1 Atm. He @ 20ºC. (1 Atm. = 1.013 x 104 Pa or 1013 mbar). Available in thermocouple types K and N with an impervious aluminous porcelain sheath or thermocouple types R and S with an impervious recrystallised alumina sheath, they have a stainless steel support tube attached to a weatherproof connection head. The sensor can then be inserted into the application with a vacuum tight sealing assembly (ref 940-161) which can be purchased separately. Please see the sealing assembly section on this website for more detailed specifications of the sealing assemblies. Whilst we offer a standard range of vacuum furnace thermocouples, due to the specialist nature of these sensors a full custom built service is available for both end users and OEM's.
  • Thermocouple types K, N, R or S available
  • Suitable to at least a vacuum of 1 x 10-6 mbar when used with a sealing assembly (see 940-161 above, other sealant types are available)
  • Ceramic sheath material: Type K and N, Impervious aluminous porcelain rated to 1350°C Type R and S, Impervious recrystallised alumina rated to 1600°C
  • Ceramic sheath diameter 8mm
  • Support tube
    12.7mm OD x 200mm long for 600mm and 1000mm total lengths
    12.7mm OD x 300mm long for 1200mm total lengths
  • Terminated in an IP67 weatherproof die cast alloy head rated to 135°C
  • Suitable for use with a 3/4" sealing assembly 940-161 which is fitted onto the support tube
